The State Bar of California
Created by the state legislature in 1927, the State Bar is a public corporation within the judicial branch of government, serving as an arm of the California Supreme Court. All State Bar members are officers of the court. Membership in The State Bar of California affords attorneys the right and privilege of practicing law in this state. The bar’s integrated network of functions and services — many of them mandated by law — protects the public and assists attorneys in meeting their professional obligations.
California Laywers Association — Taxation Section
California’s only statewide tax bar association. The Taxation Section’s current membership is approximately 3,000, and includes accountants, financial planners, pension and trust administrators, actuaries, tax executives, federal, state and local tax administrators, educators, other tax specialists, and law students.

United States District Court Southern District of California
Established on September 19, 1966, the U.S. Court for the Southern District of California includes San Diego and Imperial Counties. The district court receives both civil and criminal filings, but the Southern District Court of California is known for its criminal caseload, one of the highest criminal caseloads per active judge in the country.

U.S. Court of Appeals — Ninth Circuit
The United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, sometimes referred to simply as the Ninth Circuit, is one of the thirteen federal appellate courts. The court was established in 1891. It is by far the largest appellate court, with 29 posts. The court is headquartered at the James R. Browning Federal Courthouse in San Francisco, California, but meets at locations throughout the Ninth Circuit. The United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit has jurisdiction over the district courts in Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Guam, and the Northern Marianas Islands.
U.S. Court of Appeals — Sixth Circuit
The United State Court of Appeals of the Sixth Circuit has jurisdiction over federal appeals arising from the states of Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and Tennessee. The court is based in the Potter Steward U.S. Courthouse in Cincinnati, Ohio.
San Diego County Bar Association (SDCBA)
The San Diego County Bar Association is at the center of the county’s diverse legal community and its mission is to be San Diego County’s representative of the legal profession, serving the public and the profession by enhancing the legal system and promoting justice, professional excellence and respect for the law.
American Bar Association — Taxation Section
The mission of the ABA Section of Taxation is to serve its members as well as the public by providing education about taxes and tax systems. Additionally, the section strives to provide leadership to support the development of an equitable, efficient, and workable tax system.
