Attorney Anne Wenger of McLaughlin Legal, a San Diego-based firm providing tax litigation and controversy, estate planning, trust administration, tax preparer and CPA defense services, is named the Associate Editor of the Financial Services Review.

She will cover estate planning topics for the academic journal as a member of its editorial board.

“This is an incredible honor, and one most deserving for Anne,” said Kevan McLaughlin, Founder and Managing Partner of McLaughlin Legal. “She is a true star in her practice area, and we’re excited for her about this appointment!”

Financial Services Review (FSR) is the official publication of the Academy of Financial Services and exists to encourage rigorous empirical research that examines behavior in the areas of financial planning and services. In contrast to the many corporate or institutional journals that are available in finance, the focus of this journal is on individual financial issues. The FSR journal provides a forum for those who are interested in this perspective on issues in the areas of Banking/Banking Services, Education in Financial Services, Employee Benefits, Estate and Tax Planning, Financial Counseling, Financial Planning, Insurance, Investments, Mutual Funds, Nonbank Financial Institutions, Pension and Retirement Planning and Real Estate. While the primary purpose of this journal is the publication of traditional academic empirical research, the Academy believes that it is important to encourage the cross-fertilization of ideas and an exchange of information of interest to both academicians and practitioners. FSR seeks to publish papers that present innovative ideas and new information in financial planning and services.

Wenger focuses her practice in McLaughlin Legal’s Estate and Tax Planning division, and also represents clients before all federal, state, and local agencies. She advises clients with regard to their fundamental estate plans (Trust, Wills, Durable Powers of Attorney and Advance Health Care Directives), as well as assists her clients in evaluating and implementing various tax strategies to help protect and preserve their assets. Wenger graduated from Gonzaga University School of Law where she was awarded the CALI Excellence for the Future Award, given to the highest scoring student in each law school class, in both Transactional Skills and Labor Law. After graduating Magna Cum Laude, Wenger has returned to San Diego to join Kevan at McLaughlin Legal.

Additionally, she attended the University of San Diego School of Law’s Graduate Tax Program, where she earned her Master of Laws (LL.M) degree in Taxation. Wenger also served as Co-Chairs of the San Diego Chapter of the Young Tax Lawyers of the California State Bar Taxation Section and the San Diego County Bar Association’s Taxation Section.  She is also an adjunct professor at San Diego State University teaching courses in Estate Planning and Taxation.
